How to Cook Chicken Breast Recipes – Cooking Techniques for the Beginner
How to cook chicken breast? I bet you never asked yourself that question until now. Maybe you are cooking a steak and some other part of the meal has been left on the grill or burnt on the stove. What then? Throw the meat away?
What would you do if the ingredient listing on your favorite recipe calls for boneless, skinless chicken breast? Do you simply throw a raw chicken breast into the oven for several minutes, hoping for the best? Run to the store for a rotisserie grill? Choose another recipe since, unfortunately, WTF, why does this recipe not specify how to cook the meat at all?
I’ve actually done this many times to create the moist, tender chicken most people strive for in a classic Cobb dish. In fact, I used this very same approach when preparing this chicken for my father’s famous spaghetti and meatballs meal. This is also a great way to get more protein into your diet without having to add any salt or pepper.
If you don’t have a rotisserie grill or an outdoor gas grill, you can still create a moist, tender piece of meat by cooking it in a crock pot on low for about 8 hours. Of course, you’ll want to remove the chicken breasts while they’re cooking. For that, you’ll need a food processor, a cut onion, and a cup of dry mustard. You’ll also need about two tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, some salt and pepper, and about two cups of cold water.
Let the mixture cool down to room temperature
Use your food processor to chop up the onions. Then, you can puree the onions and seasonings together with the rest of the ingredients for your slow cooker recipes. It will be necessary to use a whole lot of liquid, as the mixture will be thick when you pureed it.
Chicken breasts should be brined in brine until they are almost fully submerged. Don’t forget to add the seasonings and onions into the brine. While you’re cooking the breasts, you can sprinkle a little salt right on them. Don’t go overboard, though. You don’t want the salt to be a salt all by itself.
Next, you’ll want to bring the chicken breast to a boil. Reduce the heat so the internal temp reaches about 160 degrees f. Turn the heat down to maintain the internal temp while you finish cooking the meat. In order to help the meat cook evenly, you can add in vegetable oil or clarified butter at this point. Season to taste and remove from the heat.
Finally, you can baste the chicken breast
Using a basting brush or spray bottle, apply the oil or butter to the outer side of the breast. Let it sit for five minutes to give the liquid time to soak in before you turn the grill on to finish cooking the meal. How to cook chicken breast like a pro doesn’t have to be complicated.
Once your chicken breasts are done as mentioned earlier, you can move on to the poaching process. The poaching method uses a pot or pan with olive oil and garlic cooker attached. Bring the pot or pan to a boil over medium heat. Add the basting brush or spray bottle and allow the pot or pan to heat up for five minutes. Then, add in the tomatoes and cover for one minute. The poaching will bring out the natural juices from the tomatoes, which will then reduce the tenderness of the breasts.
If you’re looking for a more authentic chicken breasts recipe than the traditional poaching method is, consider making your own poached juices. Just buy a good commercial tomato paste and turn it into a paste with a bit of salt and pepper. Place it into your juicer. It’ll form into a thick paste that will help thicken your homemade chicken breasts.
Another way to make sure that your chicken breasts come out perfect is by using a rub. A rub can be a combination of ingredients that will help your chicken breasts come out just the way you like them. Some great rubs to try include: paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and curry powder.
To finish your meal, you can serve it up with rice or a side of potatoes and green salad. Be sure to place the chicken breast on top of the rice or salad. Cover it with a lid and let it cook on medium-high heat. You should be able to see it through the lid and ensure that it’s still warm when you flip it over. Remove it right away, and enjoy your spicy and delicious meal!
